COMPANION Housing & Blanket ‘No Pet’ Policies

Housing & Blanket ‘No Pet’ Policies

We are concerned that blanket ‘no pet’ clauses in rental agreements have the potential to cause significant distress to tenants and their animals, who may be forced to separate or become homeless due to an absence of available accomodation. We are working with campaign groups to find a sensible solution which is fair to both tenants and landlords.

There are similar issues for people who find themselves homeless and searching for hostel accomodation that can accomodate a non-human family member. We will work with others to help find legal and policy solutions to these issues.

Our recent series exploring animals and social justice included this interesting lecture about housing and blanket ‘no pet’ policies.
